Dr. Eric Savitsky, MD

Dr. Eric Savitsky is a leader in many ways, and is being honored as this year’s Hospital Physician Leadership Award for his contributions to the profession, his service to patients and his involvement in the community. Dr. Savitsky is an inventor with multiple patents, an innovative educator in the United States and abroad, and clinician at UCLA Medical Center.
He is the founder and Executive Director of the UCLA Center for International Medicine, Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Director of Trauma Services and Education. He served on the advisory board of UCLA’s Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology and is a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Russian from the University of Florida and is conversant in English, Farsi, Russian and Spanish. He received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida and completed his residency and fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at UCLA.
He is a past winner of UCLA’s Award for Excellence in Education, the Shanghai Emergency Medicine Society’s Outstanding Contributions to Emergency Medicine award, the Egyptian Ministry of Health’s Outstanding Contributions in International Medical Education award, among many others, and has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense for his training of medical providers who care for U.S. service members who suffer battlefield injuries.
